Across the world a new generation of innovators are making huge steps in science and technology, in a movement defined by both curiosity and collaboration. In no better place is this entrepreneurial spirit exhibited than at the Maker Faire in Pittsburgh this weekend. We’re delighted to announce that Airnest will be there too, showing off our latest developments in the Drone Software Revolution.
With more than 200 different exhibits, presentations and performances, the 2015 Pittsburgh Maker Faire is all set to be an incredible festival of ideas surrounding a wide range of topics, from 3-D printing to robotics and education. The whole weekend promises to be a really exciting celebration of innovation and making, and we’re proud to be one of this year’s Makers. There will be countless inventors, creators and makers showing off the best of their work, so do your best to come down! Here are a few that we’re excited to see…
AN ANT’S LIFE
A unique look into the potential for virtual reality hardware, An Ant’s Life is a storytelling world using the Oculus Rift and PS Move. The game has been created by graduate students at Carnegie Mellon University, and features an ant-sized raft to be steered, avoiding obstacles such as raindrops, birds, falling trash and stomping feet. We’re all for the progression of Virtual Reality technology – imagine it in combination with our drone software!
From the geniuses at KinetiGear LLC, BoXZY is a revolutionary all-in-one desktop tool. It combines 3D printing, laser engraving and milling, for a host of creative possibilities in one user-friendly cube. Coming to a desk near you!
CMU ORIGAMI CLUB EXHIBIT AND PETTING ZOO
This is one we’re really looking forward to. In the true spirit of the Maker Faire, CMU Origami Club is bringing both simplicity and creativity to the weekend with their origami petting zoo. Sometimes we can forget that the best innovations come from humble beginnings, and this will be a fantastic example of that.
What about Airnest?
That’s our top three, but we should probably tell you a little about what you can expect from us this weekend. We will be hosting a booth, offering visitors the first chance to see the new Airnest app in action before it hits the iOS App Store. We’ll be in Robot Alley at booth 125.
Aside from having a go on our app, don’t miss our live flight demos on Saturday and Sunday at 2:30pm at the Arena. Lucky spectators will get to try out our new Motion Camera feature, controlling the drone’s camera with a simple tilt of an iPad. It would be great to see you there, but if you can’t make it, our Facebook and Twitter feeds will be packed with updates throughout the weekend.
